I’m Federico Pannacci, a Tuscany wedding photographer based in the heart of the region. With its breathtaking landscapes, charming villages, and romantic vineyards, Tuscany is the perfect setting for any wedding, and I am dedicated to capturing the beauty and emotion of your special day.

Photographing Weddings Across Tuscany

I’ve been photographing weddings in Tuscany for 15 years, documenting more than 500 celebrations across the region — from intimate elopements at San Galgano Abbey to multi-day estate weddings in the Chianti hills. This isn’t a region I visit for work; it’s the region I call home, and that familiarity shows in the images: I know which courtyards catch the best afternoon light, which roads to take to avoid the tour-bus crowds, and which venues actually deliver on their photos.

My approach blends documentary storytelling with an editorial eye — candid, unposed moments alongside intentional, beautifully composed portraits. I shoot both digital and 35mm film, and many couples choose me specifically for the film work: the grain, the color rendering, the way it holds emotion differently than a digital frame ever could.

Where I Shoot in Tuscany

Siena and the Val d’Orcia — My home base, and still my favorite region to photograph in. Rolling cypress-lined hills, honey-colored stone farmhouses, and the kind of golden-hour light that photographers chase for years. Agriturismo Il Rigo and the countryside around Pienza are recurring favorites.

San Galgano Abbey — A roofless 13th-century abbey open to the sky, one of the most striking backdrops in all of Tuscany. I’ve photographed dozens of ceremonies and elopements here — it rarely looks the same twice depending on the light.

Chianti — Vineyard estates, olive groves, and some of the region’s most photogenic wedding venues, from Borgo San Luigi to Tenuta di Papena.

Florence — For couples wanting a city backdrop: the Arno, the historic center, and golden views from San Miniato al Monte at sunset.

Lucca and the Val di Chiana — Quieter, less touristic corners of Tuscany that consistently surprise couples with how much character they hold.

What Working With Me Looks Like

Most couples I work with are planning a destination wedding or elopement from abroad, often without ever having seen the venue in person before the day itself. My role goes beyond photography — I regularly advise on timing (I always push for a first-look or ceremony scheduled around the light, not just the clock), realistic shot-list expectations, and which of my trusted local vendors — planners, florists, hair and makeup artists — would be the right fit for the style you’re going for.

Coverage typically includes full-day documentary photography, with the option to add a second shooter, film alongside digital, or a cinematic wedding film produced by my collaborators.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a Tuscany wedding photographer? Popular dates (May–June and September–October especially) are often booked 9–12 months in advance. If you have a specific date or venue in mind, earlier is better.

Do you travel to venues outside Siena? Yes — I regularly photograph weddings across all of Tuscany, as well as Umbria, Lake Como, Puglia, and Sicily.

Do you shoot both film and digital? Yes. Most couples receive a full digital gallery, with film available as an add-on for couples who want that specific analog look for part of the day.

Can you recommend venues or vendors in Tuscany? Absolutely — after 15 years and 500+ weddings here, I have direct experience with most of the region’s top venues and a trusted network of planners, florists, and other vendors I regularly recommend.
